Temporary Performance Center
West Palm Beach, Florida

This temporary performance stage won a 2007 IAA Outstanding Achievement award in the architectural structures category.

Created by FTL Design Engineering Studio and fabricated by Eide Industries, it provides a dramatic home for free performances at City Hall Place in West Palm Beach, Florida. The structure's hyperbolic shape promotes good acoustics, with the front designed to reflect woodwinds and strings, and the sides providing ample onstage hearing for performers. The trusses even have built-in support for theatrical lighting.

The entire seven-piece shell, comprised of custom aluminum trusses and Tenara® fabric membrane, can be installed in a few hours by a local crew, using self-lifting wenches to position and bolt pieces into place.

The client is "extremely happy" with the performance center, which is not only easy to install and remove, but provides an exciting new focus for the retail plaza and its patrons.
