Famed architect Giancarlo De Carlo wanted to create an open building, filled with natural light, as a metaphor for the activities that take place in this city courthouse.


the solution


A light metal structure, clad in SEFAR® Architecture TENARA® Fabric, floats above the central hall, transmitting light from a skylight above.

Pesaro Court Building, Italy, Translucent Cover

This is one of the last projects designed by the renown Giancarlo De Carlo. He created a Palace of Justice filled with open space and bright light, alluding to the activities taking place in the building’s courtrooms. A large atrium with a garden is the hub of this building.

The reading room of the court's library rises 10 meters above the atrium and is the focal point of the space. SEFAR® Architecture TENARA® Fabric covers the metal frame of the reading room, filtering light from the skylight above and enhancing the sense of openness.
