Open Air Drama Festival
Gemeunden, Germany

The ruins of the Medieval Scherenburg Castle in Gemeunden, Germany provide a dramatic backdrop to the Scheren Castle Open Air Drama Festival each summer.

To protect audiences during performances, and to extend the times during which the theatre can be used, the client commissioned the creation of a seasonal covering made of SEFAR® Architecture TENARA® Fabric with 20% light transmission. The covering is installed in the spring and removed in the fall. The fabric folds easily and without damage for storage, and is highly resistant to mold and mildew even over the long winter months—a key reason this fabric was chosen.

The structure was designed by the architectural firm of Rasch + Bradatsch.
