Permanent umbrellas
Residential development, New York City

The owners of this residential development along New York's East River wanted to create an area where people could rest and relax in the shade. They turned to the firm of Taiyo Birdair, a leading specialist in tensile architecture and creators of the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, U.K.

For this project, Taiyo Birdair fashioned permanently installed umbrellas made from SEFAR® Architecture TENARA® Fabric. The fabric was selected for its longevity and high light transmission. The design of the umbrellas complements the landscaped plaza and enhances the value of the area for all the tenants.
